Boxers...or briefs?  Briefs! (perhaps Batman? ;)

Matt Kenseth is the quintessential All-American Boy. Clean
cut, handsome and singularly focused, Kenseth has
definitely won the respect of fans everywhere.

At times, Kenseth reminds me of a little kid. While he's attempted to add an edge
to his image, it doesn't work. He just seems like such a nice guy. In his Smirnoff
Ice commercial he tries to look like a partier, but I could more easily see him as
the designated driver.

Kenseth has all the potential to go down in history as one of the sport's legends.
His consistency will ensure him a place in the record books. Anytime he's still on
the lead lap in the waning moments of races, I'm always concerned he'll make a
run for the lead. Not because I dislike him (after all, what could you possibly
dislike?), but because I'm usually rooting for someone ahead of him.

Kenseth's biggest on-track rivalry has been with Dale Earnhardt Jr. The two
battled for the Busch series title in '99 (Junior won), then Kenseth took Rookie of
the Year the following season. Kenseth was the first of the two to win a Cup
championship, but Junior quickly answered with the first Daytona 500 win
between the two. On the surface it has all the trappings of a great rivalry, but the
two are good friends, and quite frankly I don't sense much heat between them.
For a fan, it's not that inspiring.

His clashes with Kevin Harvick have been more convincing. Harvick reminds me
of the schoolyard bully trying to pick a fight with the nice, studious, quiet kid in the
corner. That might seem an insult to Kenseth, but think about what usually
happens after graduation. Who has the last laugh?

Some say Kenseth is boring because he relies more on consistency than
aggression, and there's some truth to that. But he's a phenomenal driver, and I
can't imagine racing without him.
